SUBMISSIONS TO DICEROLL MAGAZINE ARE CURRENTLY CLOSED

Please review our submissions guidelines before sending your work to diceroll magazine.

Following on from our ‘lies’ writing competition, we’re thinking about how knowledge is shapen, disseminated, subverted, and destroyed. Truth can no longer be taken for granted in a post-postmodern literary and socio-political landscape infiltrated by AI, bots, conspiracy theorists and disinformation.

For diceroll issue II, LIES AND KNOWLEDGE, we’re seeking writing and art that interrogates these ideas on every scale, from the personal to the political.

For this issue, we’re accepting short fiction, flash fiction, micro fiction, visual art (illustration, painting or photography), and comic strips. We’re also accepting proposals for articles relating to the ‘lies and knowledge’ theme (please find further details below).

Short Fiction – 2000 words max

Flash Fiction – 700 words max

Micro Fiction – 100 words max

Visual art – pieces must be suitable for A5 publication

Comic strips – 6 A5 pages max

Writers and artists may submit up to three pieces, which can be within one or several of these categories.

Please note, we are currently unable to pay writers whose work we publish, but we hope to do so in the future.

Our Editorial Process

We provide detailed feedback to every piece submitted to diceroll magazine. We work with writers across multiple drafts of their work to make it the very best it can be, and suitable for publication.

Please note that submitting is not a guarantee of publication. Writers who are willing to engage with our editorial process are most likely to be prioritised and to see their work in print.

Tone and Style

At diceroll, we lean towards literary fiction and speculative fiction (sci-fi, horror), with compelling characters and relationships. We are particularly excited by dark and thoughtful prose with hidden layers of meaning.

However, regardless of your writing style, if you have a piece that fits the ‘lies and knowledge’ theme, we would love to hear from you!

If you have any queries about the suitability of your piece(s), don’t hesitate to contact us on dicerollmag@gmail.com.

Articles

For this issue, alongside our regular submissions we are also accepting proposals for non-fiction cultural articles relating to the ‘lies and knowledge’ theme. This could be:

  • A review of a film/tv series/book/play that relates to ‘lies and knowledge’
  • A comparative analysis of two or more texts that interrogate this theme in some way
  • A general exploration of how ‘lies and knowledge’ permeates one or many pieces of film/literature

If you’re interested in writing an article for us, please write a 200 word proposal FIRST and email this to dicerollmag@gmail.com. This proposal should explain what your article will be about and how it relates to the theme.

If accepted, we will commission your article and help over multiple drafts to prepare it for publication.

How to Submit

Please email your submission(s) to dicerollmag@gmail.com, with the subject line ‘Diceroll Issue II Submission’.

Please include your name, town/city and country, and a brief description of how your piece fits the theme.

Please attach your written submission as a .docx or .pdf file. All images must be submitted as .jpg or .png files.
